Kligler and Hajna Agar – medium for the enumeration of Salmonella in water according to ISO19250
- Format: 500 g
- Code: TN1146
- Technology: Culture media and ISO confirmation tests
- Application: Food/Water microbiology
- Tag/Filter: Salmonella
This medium is used for the identification of Enterobacteria following their isolation in food products and water. Its use is enforced in ISO10273 (Horizontal method for the detection of presumptive pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica), in ISO6340 (Water quality - Detection of Salmonella) and ISO19250 (Water quality - Detection and enumeration of Salmonella). The principle of the medium relies on the ability of Enterobacteria to ferment lactose (inclined surface turns yellow = lactose + colonies) and glucose (yellow sediment = glucose + colonies) with or without production of gas or hydrogen sulfide (blackening).
