The kit uses Real-Time PCR technology to detect the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in environmental and food samples such as ready-to-eat meals, cold cuts, dairies and fish. Thanks to the sensitivity and specificity of PCR, the results are obtained after only 24 hours of enrichment in a selective medium. Positive samples can be confirmed from the same broth through cultivation on agarized media. As required by ISO 22174, each reaction includes an internal inhibition control amplified in parallel with the target DNA to ensure a reliable negative result. An accessory kit complements and optimizes the method by removing the DNA of dead bacteria from food and environmental samples. The kit has been validated and certified according to ISO 16140 as equivalent or better than the ISO 11290 reference method, this allows a fast accreditation of the Real-Time PCR method in ISO 17025 environments. The workflow is fully automatable thanks to the miniaturization of the extraction protocol and the pre-aliquotation of qPCR tests.
