Coronavirus (CoV) was demonstrated to be particularly persistent in certain environments (surfaces and fomites) and on skin. It is also known that different animals including pets can be infected and constitute a reservoir for the virus which may pass to infect humans after a casual mutation. This Real-Time PCR kit detects the presence of 2019-nCoV (the etiological agent of COVID-19), in RNA extracts from environmental swabs and veterinary samples, using the sequences approved by WHO. The variability of the samples, differently from human testing, requires the use of an artificial process control to monitor PCR inhibition and extraction yield. Hence, the kit was designed to detect, Intype IC RNA, a process control manifactured by our partner INDICAL. The kit is composed of a prime quality RTqPCR enzyme mix and two oligo mixes detecting respectively 2019-nCoV and Intype IC RNA. The kit shall be intended for research use only although it can be used to monitor the presence of 2019-nCoV on water, sewage, surfaces and fomites and the infective status of animals
