The 3M Petrifilm plate for counting lactic acid bacteria is a plate that solves multiple problems in one fell swoop with a considerable economic advantage. (1) It is much smaller than an agar plate and therefore allows the use of smaller incubators and generates less waste. (2) Thanks to a proprietary oxygen removal technology, it does not require anaerobiosis bags and dedicated jars. (3) The production of gas by the colonies is evident without additional steps. (4) It is ready to use and has a long shelf life. (5) Provides results in just 48 hours. (6) It is ISO 16140 certified as an alternative method to the official one (using MRS or APT agar). The colonies are dark red on a blue background. They are available in 50 or 500 unit sizes.
