Slanetz & Bartley (S&B) Agar is a selective medium used for the isolation and counting of intestinal enterococci in water by a membrane filtration method. It is preferably used for samples in which low microbial loads are suspected (drinking water, swimming pool water, disinfected water) or even spring, ground or surface water, intended or to be intended for human consumption. S&B Agar can also be used with other types of samples by direct inoculation in plates.
