Kit for the collection of viral samples from food surfaces, packaging and fomites composed by a swab and a vial containing 3 ml of inactivating viral transport medium (VTM). The swab flock is made of a synthetic fiber as indicated by WHO guidelines and stick has a breakpoint at 3 cm from the tip. The swab can be used also to collect clinical samples (nasal and faringeal swabs). VTM chemical formula rapidly inactivates viruses through the denaturation of surface proteins and protects nucleic acids from degradation for downstream analysis.
